HOW CAN REIKI HELP ANIMALS and their people?

Reiki brings relaxation and release. This aids healing. The system of Reiki supports the animal’s and/or the person’s self-healing on physical, emotional and spiritual levels.

Reiki can help maintain well-being, as well as help stressed, sick or injured animals. Reiki can be helpful at any time but particularly before or after surgery, to help shelter animals with trauma, to ease transitions, and when healing is desired on any level.

I have Reiki 3 training (master practitioner) and offer distant Reiki sessions for animals and their people. Like telepathic communication, spiritual energy transcends time and space.

WHAT IS REIKI?

Reiki translates as “spiritual energy”. Rei (meaning spiritual) and Ki (meaning energy) are two Japanese kanji (pronounced Ray Kee). The essence of spiritual energy is balance and harmony. We are all this balanced and harmonious energy as our true nature.

A practitioner radiates Reiki and the client has the intention to “step into” this energetic field of peace, calm and compassion. The body can heal itself when energy is cleared and balance is restored so that there is a natural flow of ki (chi) or “life force energy”.

Reiki treatments support and promote self-healing. The relaxation and ease that a Reiki treatment brings can align us with our true self by clearing and releasing energetically blocks to our great bright light. Health is wholeness and balance.

WHAT IS THE SYSTEM OF REIKI?

The system of Reiki is an energy healing method and for personal spiritual development. Mikao Usui became enlightened and discovered a way of working with Reiki that brought healing and taught it to students. Usui (1865-1926) lived in Japan and was a zaike, a lay Tendai Buddhist priest.

The main focus of Reiki in the west became hands-on treatments but in the traditional Japanese system it is just one of five elements of Reiki. When the system of Reiki was brought over to the USA many branches developed with their own practices.

WHAT HAPPENS IN A REIKI SESSION?

A Reiki practitioner holds space for the energy of love, wholeness and compassion to facilitate the body, mind and heart to heal itself. The natural flow of energy is restored when blocks to harmony are released.

The intent is for the recipient to receive whatever is that is needed at that exact moment for their highest good. The recipient is responsible for having the intention to be open and willing to heal themselves. This is what we call a Reiki treatment.

The practitioner does not need to be aware of the issues or problems of the client. Reiki gets to the root of issues without a diagnosis. There is no need to know what seems to be wrong.

Distant Reiki offers the same benefits as in-person Reiki since our interconnectedness spans time and space. We can feel the affects and power of love without being in the same physical space. Distant Reiki is related to the traditional technique called enkaku chiryo ho. It is based on a state of Oneness and original state of energetic harmony.

Everything in the universe is energy, so all things are connected. Being Reiki connected energetically to the recipient facilitates healing to take place. Reiki brings back everything to a natural balanced state.

Reiki is gentle, noninvasive, painless and can do no harm. Usually there is a deep feeling of relaxation and even sleep. There might be no sensation felt at all. Or the shifting energy may be experienced as an emotional detox with signs of letting go such yawning, burbing or movements in the body. When issues are released, the body may respond by even briefly appearing to get worse or reactive as part of the healing process.

HOW IS ANIMAL REIKI DIFFERENT?

The methods for Animal Reiki are different since animals are very sensitive to energy. The hands-on approach with humans doesn’t work well for most animals. Kathleen Prasad explains that her Let Animals Lead® method is a heart-to-heart meditative process since ”true healing starts where our hearts connect”. This is the space where all healing possibilities are present. This can be done in the same space or from a distance. So distant Reiki works perfectly for our animal friends. Animals will either decide to accept Reiki or not in that moment. It is always optional.

ANIMAL REIKI PRACTITIONER CODE OF ETHICS

Developed by Kathleen Prasad
GUIDING PRINCIPLES:

  • I believe the animals are equal partners in the healing process.

  • I honor the animals as being not only my clients, but also my teachers in the journey of healing.

  • I understand that all animals have physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspetcts, to which Reiki can bring profound healing responses.

  • I believe that bringing Reiki to the human/animal relationship is transformational to the human view of the animal kingdom.

  • I dedicate myself to the virtues of humility, integrity, compassion and gratitude in my Reiki practice.

The system of Reiki is holistic. It can be used for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual healing. The nature of Reiki is harmony and balance, so it always finds the origin of health problems (“dis-ease, or imbalance) and works for the highest good (rebalancing and clearing the energy “flow).

Remember that beneath the surface, their bright inner light, that is the essence of their being, is already perfect and balance. If we can see this in them, they will sense it and this will help them remember their inner strength for healing. This is the seed of healing.
